Although everybody knows marihuana is very popular in Jamaica, you should know it is an illegal drug. It is not legal to buy it, sell it, or smoke it.

Yes, I know almost everyone smokes ganja, as locals call it, in Jamaica. But you have to be careful. It is not difficult to find it, and prices are really low. It is almost the only cheap thing in Jamaica --alcohol and tobacco are quite expensive.

If you buy some, be careful who you buy it from. You should never smoke it in public. You can smoke it in some hotel rooms, but you should always ask for permission. In any case, you should never try to smuggle some ganja. Airport controls are very strict. And Jamaican prisons are quite tough.
