1/10.-Chengdu Tourist Information. Welcome to Chengdu, China!

Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan and the main gateway to this province. Tourists come to this city for three main reasons: to start a trip to one of the many destinations in Sichuan province, to taste the local spicy food, and to visit the Giant Panda Breeding Research Center.

On the following pages I will give you some tourist tips, along with some photographs I took while visiting Chengdu.

Although Chengdu itself cannot be considered a tourist destination, there are some temples in the city that are worth visiting.

-- Sichuan May 12th 2008 earthquake Update --

The scenic spots in the area of Chengdu, including Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, and hotels and other tourist infrastructure are in good condition.

Scenic spots in the province, including Emei Mountain, Leshan Giant Buddha, Siguniang Mountain, Hailuogou Valley, Shunan Bamboo Sea, have not been influenced by the earthquake.

Tourism money is more necessary than ever. Visiting Chengdu is a good way of helping the victims.
