25/30.- Madurai, Sree Meenakshi Temple

The festival of Chithirai Thiruvizha lasts almost two weeks. The first eight days statues of the married couple are taken to the streets of Madurai on different animals. The 10th day of the festival is when the wedding takes place. On the 11th day takes place the car Festival, when the statues are carried in a big Ther (car) and lord Azhagar is brought from a town 20 km from Madurai, Azhagar Kovil.
