West of Haad Mae Haad, on the North Coast of Phangan is the local town of Chaloklum, where many diving schools have their head offices. This is a good place to stay if you want to go diving in the area (ko Tao, Sailing Rock, etc).
West of Chaloklum is the paradisiacal beach of Haad Khom Beach.
