16/27.- Holland, Windmills

Much of the country consists of polders, i.e. territories below sea level, from which excess water was pumped into canals by means of windmills. But today, these mills have been replaced by more modern equipment, and have become pretty monuments for the tourists to take pictures of. This alignment of windmills near Dordrecht is known by the name of Kinderdijk.
