Oh ... the Woolworth Building!!! One of my favorite buildings in town. Amazing is the only word that comes into my mind to describe it.
This Neo-Gothic style skyscraper was built between 1911-1913 for Woolworth’s, a retail company. According to legend, the banks did not want to finance the project so Frank W. Woolworth had to pay the $13 million that the building cost in cash. Woolworth’s was the tallest building in the world for 17 years.
