22/32.- Palm Beach Area. Palm Beach, Historic Inn

Menu

Cross over the Flagler Memorial Bridge and you’ll be in Palm Beach, the place to see and be seen. Mediterranean -style architecture, popularized by Addison Mizner, abounds here. It’s chic and expensive, so what more do you want? The Palm Beach Historic Inn basks in its glory just across from the Town Hall.

The story behind the growth of Palm Beach is one based on coconuts. In 1878 a Spanish brigantine, the Providenica, on its way to Cadiz from Trinidad, washed ashore. Its cargo, coconuts and more coconuts, thinking the place looked rather nice, took root. Lo and behold a vast array of palm trees sprung up, and thereafter the land became known as Palm Beach.
