Down the road from Naples is Marco Island where, in 1896, evidence of the prehistoric Calusa Indians were discovered. The artifacts were to become one of the greatest archaeological discoveries in North America. It was not until the 1960s, however, that Marco Island was developed. Today, resorts, vacation condominiums and marinas abound. Boating and jet skiing are the main pastimes here. Check out the Visitors Bureau on the right as you cross over the bridge.
