The thirteen Tombs of the Ming Dynasty are located 30 miles North of Beijing. Since 2003 they have been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The place was chosen according to Feng Shui by the third Ming Dynasty emperor Yongle in the 15th century. Only three tombs have been excavated: Chang Ling, the one in the picture, which is the largest; Ding Ling, with its underground palace open to the public; and Shao Ling.
Something not many tourists visit, because guided tours do not get there, is the Heavenly Road. This road is a straight line that links the Ming Tombs, the Forbidden City, Tiananmen and the Temple of Heaven. Near the Ming Tombs. there is a section of the road with carved statues and gardens.
Although the Changling Tomb was a nice visit, if you are on a tight schedule you can skip it.
It is time to go back to Beijing City.
