When walking in the streets around the Meenakshi Temple you will be contacted by local "guides" who will tell you a very special ceremony is about to take place. Do not trust them. All they want is you to follow them to a souvenir shop with inflated prices. Once inside the store they will try to know more about you in order to sell you something. If you go to the store ask them to take you to the rooftop, from where there is a nice view of the temple and its towers.
