If you are traveling around Bali on a rented car, a good option is to spend one night (at least) in the Lake Batur area. There are some nice resorts here, as the one in the picture, with bungalows just in front of the lake. Prices are moderate during the low season (Jan-May), and very high during the top season (Christmas and Jul-Aug).
