Winters in the Northeast regions are cool. In the mountains, temperature can dip down to freezing. The Northeast monsoon blowing along the China coast and across the Gulf of Tonkin affects this part of the country in winter.
From May to October is the summer season, with high temperature and heavy downpours or occasional typhoons. June, July, and August are the hottest months.
