In this photo you see the 'Rue de la Republique', the main street in Avignon. This "Rue" splits the historic center of the city in two. It goes from 'Place du Palais' to the 'Porte de la Republique' (=Door of the Republic), where the main train station is (Gare Avignon Center).
Some of the most interesting celebrations that take place in this town are: the Saint André’s fair, the horse celebrations, the harvest day, the Saint Jean day -with its fire celebration- and the Provençal festival.
