The 'Château Royal de Blois' is one of the best samples of the French Renaissance. But not all the building belongs to this style. Part of the building was built during the XIII century --the 'salle des Etats', which is the oldest civilian Gothic Hall in France. After Louis XII made of this his official residence, new parts of the castle were constructed, with evident late Gothic influences. But what has made this castle famous, is the renaissance decorations from times of Francis I --XVI century. The building has also XVII century influences, like Francis Mansart's dome in the wing constructed in times of Gaston dOrléans.
