Although the occupying forces ordered very harsh reprisals against the local population if they provided shelter to these remaining Allied troops, the monks of Preveli Monastery risked their live engaging in resistance activities. This is a monument along the road from the monastery to the beach, one kilometer walk. It represents a Preveli abbot and an Allied soldier.
