The Old Town is a little hilly while the rest of the city is quite flat. This makes this city a great place to go biking. In order to promote this sport, and to reduce the use of private cars, Geneva has put into practice a very special plan. You can rent a bike for free for one day. All you have to do is to go to one of the lending points, deposit 50 CHF and leave your identity card. You do have to return the bike the same day, though.

The best part about this service is that you are not only getting a free bike, ...but you will be helping integrate the unemployed and the international refugees. Because people who work in this project are former unemployed, and money collected goes to a refugees fund.
