One of the biggest parties in the world is the Oktoberfest. It takes place in Munich since 1810, when a festival and a horse race took place to celebrate the wedding of Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese. The following year an Agricultural Fair joined the race, and at the end of the 19th century the annual celebration became a beer festival.

Today at the end of September and beginning of October more than 6 million people join in the celebration. Millions of litters of beer are served, along with typical Bayern food (sausages and broiled chicken are the most popular). The festival takes place in huge tents, that can accommodate more than 10,000 people each, where small bands play regional and international music. The festival is very popular among Bavarians, who dress in traditional clothes to attend the festival.
