This is the 'Place de la Republique'. It sits close to the 'rue Jeanne d'Arc'. If you plan a travel to Orleans, the best dates are between April 29th and May 7th. During these days it takes place the "Joan of Arc celebrations", which commemorate the heroic liberation of the town led by Joan of Arc.
To homage the French heroine a local young girl is chosen. She plays the role of Joan during the celebrations. On April 29th, it takes place a representation of the taking of the Saint-Loup fortress and the crossing of the river. On May 7th, it takes place a light and sound show in front of the cathedral. The following day, a parade takes place in the town center.
