45/49.- Algarve, Faro

Menu

More than the other towns in Algarve, the capital Faro has the feel of a small city, with administrative buildings and a historic precinct. Between the harbour and the historic centre, a large shaded square, Jardim Manuel Bivar, houses small souvenir shops where foreign, especially colourful African handicraft and artifacts are sold. The bell tower above the city gate supports a stork’s nest, as do many towers, steeples, factory chimneys and even power-line masts along the roads travelled by these large birds.
