... or outside, where the supporting structures are richly sculptured, sometimes with less religious figures like the signs of the Zodiac or mythical characters. Rain from the roofs is channelled towards the characteristic gargoyles (so named after the gargling noise they make when water runs through them). The sculptures in the higher ranges of the Cathedral are inhabited by pigeons, but also by birds of prey (like small falcons) who feed on them.
