Not far from the Cathedral there’s this clock, populary known as the Anker Clock. What does Anker mean? Good question. Anker is the name of the Insurance company that owns the building where the clock is.
At noon twelve figures representing the history of Vienna (from the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius to Joseph Haydn) move across the face of the clock. Every hour one of these figures (or a pair of figures) is displayed. The clock was created in 1911 by Franz von Matsch.
