17/27.- Utrecht, the Dom Tower

Utrecht is the fourth largest city in the Netherlands, the seat of the archbishopric as well as a university town. Its central position in the country gives it the status of an important road and railroad centre. The most famous landmark is the 14th-century Dom Tower, originally the tower of the cathedral, but now separated from the church building and leading a life of its own as a tourist attraction, offering a view over the old city centre.
