In this photo you can see the center of the Gomhuiyya square. Beyond the statue in the middle of the photo stands the main train station in Alexandria, station Masr (Masr=Egypt, Cairo in Arabic). On our left is the 1960's discovered Roman Theater. This Roman amphitheater is exceptionally well preserved, maybe thanks to the fact that nobody knew of its existence till very recently. Workers laying the foundation of a new building were the first to see the ruins of this old theater. Since then, archaeologists have worked (and are still working) to explore the area.
