28 miles North of Aswan and 41 miles south of Edfu there is another city you should not miss: Kom Ombo. If you take one of the Nile cruisers, you will visit this city. Most of the cruisers leave from Luxor, and stop in Esna, Edfu and Kom Ombo. If you come to Aswan by your own, you can go to Kom Ombo by bus, taxi or feluca. Some "lonely" travelers do the Nile cruise in one of these small boats.
The major attraction of Kom Ombo, the "city of gold", is the temple of Kom Ombo. This temple consists of two mirror temples. The left temple is dedicated to Haroeris (a falcon headed god) and the right one to Sobek (a crocodile headed god).
South of the double temple, there is the Hathor temple, dedicated to this Roman goddess. There you can visit a collection of mummified crocodiles.
