Menu

This part of the city is also known as the Coptic Cairo. Egyptian Christians are known as Coptics since the 5th century. Coptics still use their own language in some ceremonies and are a powerful minority in Egypt.

The Hanging Church was built in the 4th century. It is called the Hanging Church because it was built by the river, over the Roman gate of Babylon.
