22/25.- Fez, Medina, donkeys in the streets

Menu

Chaos reigns in the streets of Fez, but this city is the home of the oldest university in Morocco. It has also been the political, cultural and religious center of this country for several centuries.

While visiting Fez, I recommend drinking a lot of water. The climate is very dry, and the high temperatures can dehydrate your body in a few hours. You will find bottled water almost in every corner. If you want to sit and have something, I recommend the mint tea. Women may feel uncomfortable in some local bars -- in Morocco only men are supposed to sit in cafes.

Nightlife in Fez is very limited. If you want to have a drink, go to the Ville Nouvelle. In Place Mohammed, Avenue Hassan II and Boulevard Mohammed V you may find some bars and clubs.
