135 km North of Marsa Alam is the town of Al-Quseir. Al-Quseir is one of the major ports of the Red Sea. This town has a long history, as depicted in the reliefs in Deir El-Bahari temple at Luxor, queen Hatshepsut launched her expedition to the land of Punt from here. A 16th century fortress shows the former strategic importance of Al-Quseir. In this city you can visit the colorful bedouin bazaars.

To get to Quseir from Marsa Alam you will have to take a taxi. There is a bus line, but it is for locals only. Tourists should not take it for security reasons. From Quseir you can get to Hurghada or to Cairo by bus.
