From a dock south of the city, you can take the public ferry to the Island of Cozumel, in the picture.
Playa del Carmen is also a popular stop among cruise ships that sail in the Caribbean. The docks are about six miles south of the town. In order to get to the town from the cruise docks, you can take a taxi or a collective mini-van.
