As you can see in the picture some of the vendors are pretty young. While you visit the market it is not unusual being approached by kids asking for money to buy sandals or food. Although Chiapas is one of the poorest regions in Mexico, you should refrain from giving money to little kids, you only encourage them to give up school and keep harassing other tourists.
