The archeological site of Tulum is rather small and can be visited in a couple of hours, or less.
It is recommended bringing a towel and swimming costumes, next to the archeological site there is a wonderful beach! During the wet season, bringing a mosquito repellent is absolutely necessary.
There are not many signs with information about the buildings, you'd better bring your own guide, or hire a local guide.
