Welcome to Jordan!!!

Jordan is a country in the Middle East, located South of Syria, East of Israel and the West Bank, North East of Egypt, and East of Saudi Arabia and Iraq. Jordan is a peaceful country with many tourist gems, among them, the world-famous Petra.

When to Go/Climate: Any season is good for visiting Jordan. The country has a typical Mediterranean climate, with hot Summers (June, July and August), and cold Winters (December, January and February). Spring and Autumn are mild. Precipitations mostly occurs during Fall and Winter.

Get in: The country's main airport is Queen Alia International Airport (AMM), 45 minutes South of the capital, Amman. Other airports with international flights are King Hussein International Airport (AQJ) and Marka International Airport (ADJ).

You can also get to Jordan by land from Israel, Syria and Saudi Arabia.

Visitors from Western countries need a visa, which can be obtained on entry.

Get around: The most convenient way of moving around is by taxi, or by a rented car. Roads are in very good condition.

Money and Costs: The local currency is the Jordanian Dinar (JD). Prices of food and accommodation are very affordable.

Length of stay: You can visit Jordan's main tourist attractions in a couple of weeks.

Languages/People: The local language is Arabic, but English is widely spoken.

Food: Local restaurants serve the local variations of typical Middle East food (Falafel, Shawarma, Kofta, Hummus, etc). In tourist destinations it is easy to find Western food (pizzas and burgers).

Safety: Jordan is a very safe country. Although an Islamic country, Jordan is considered very liberal. Women may wear Western clothing without problem. When visiting religious sites women (and men) should wear modest clothes.
