15/48.- Damascus, Umayyad Mosque

Umayyad Mosque is the main tourist attraction in Damascus. The origins of the temple date back to the 9th century BC. Initially it was dedicated to the Aramean god Hadad. The Romans further expanded the site, and dedicated it to their god Jupiter first, and later to Jesuschrist.
