4/46.- Alsace, Strasbourg, covered bridges

Strasbourg is the capital of Alsace and, since 1949, one of the capitals of Europe. Its one-towered cathedral is recognizable from a great distance. The "Ponts Couverts" ("covered bridges" across the Ill, the river on which Strasbourg is built) shown in this picture are part of the 15th-century fortifications of the town.
