Just outside Brussels, the borough of Beersel sports a pretty fortified castle built in the 14th century. Long neglected, the castle was rebuilt from its ruins on the basis of pictures and engravings which showed its 17th-century appearance. Today it is a popular destination for field trips when kids in school study the Middle Ages and its Knights.
