The frescoes on this dome are a work of Vasari and Federico Zuccaro (16th century). Filippo Brunelleschi designed this dome --the world’s largest when it was built. To complete the dome he developed a revolutionary technique, he used interlocking bricks that supported themselves as the dome was being built.
