The park is so big that a complete visit could take you several days. If you ever come to Lyon and are going to stay here more than one day, I recommend to come here more than once --the entrance to the park is free. I will try to show you some of this park's most beautiful places in the following pages, but I am afraid that my photos do not do justice to this amazing park --at least I tried.
The construction of this English design park began in 1857, when the mayor of Lyon convinced the members of the Town Hall that the citizens of Lyon needed a public park. Eugene and Denis Bühler were chosen to design it. After five years of works the park was inaugurated. Since then it is the largest city park in France.
Later we will learn more things about this interesting park, now I want to show you a new area that has recently been created between the 'Tête dOr' Park and the Rhône: the 'Cité Internationale'.
