The 'Cité Internationale' (=International City) is a complex built on the former site of the International Fair of Lyon. This ultra modern site houses the Interpol's world headquarters, a Convention Center, the Hilton International Hotel, a casino, a cinema complex, theaters, shops, cafes, offices and Lyon's Museum of Contemporary Art. The site is a design of the Italian architect, Renzo Piano. A residential quarter will be built in the near future.
The Museum of Contemporary Art was inaugurated in 1995. The museum is also a design of Renzo Piano, who respected the 1930's facade of the Fair Hall. This is a very special museum, because its collection is based on works created on site. Thanks to its design the museum is the perfect place to exhibit the newest forms of art.
