Louis XIV commissioned the construction of the Versailles gardens to André Le Nôtre, who was an expert in botany and architecture. He used the trees and plants as construction elements. Most of the alleys in the gardens are surrounded by tall trees. These green walls hide many treasuries. To visit all this marvels you have to take it easy. Look for a map in the main information office in the castle, and stroll along the alleys without hurry. The best seasons to visit the parks are Fall and Spring. Summer is usually too hot, and winter too cold and gray. Remember that if you come on a Sunday, you will see the fountains' water shows.
