This Grand Canal is the main axis of the park. It is more than 105 acres (44 hectares) big. At this end of the canal there is a small port, with gondolas and boats. Visitors can rent one of these boats to visit the entire canal.
There is a perpendicular branch of the canal that used to link the Menagerie with the Trianon.
