34/48.- Damascus, Bab Sharqi Gate

At the end of Straight Street is the East Gate or Bab Sharqi, also known as the Gate of the Sun. This gate was originally built during the Roman period, and served as the main entrance to the city of Damascus. During the French mandate the arches and the minaret were restored. Today is one of Old Damascus top tourist attractions.
